Alhaji Shuaibu I. Gwada, Chairman Board of Directors

Alhaji Shuaibu I. Gwada has been on the Board of NSDC as Chairman since July 2015. He is a real estate executive and international businessman. Prior to his appointment as the Chairman of the NSDC Board, he was a Senior Producer (Programmes) at the Nigerian Television Authority before joining Banking and Equipment Leasing Company Marina, Lagos as Manager Corporate Affairs. He was later appointed Head of Asian and Middle East bound shipments at Acromet Shipping Services, Apapa Lagos under the late Dr. Rilwan Lukman. Alhaji Shuaibu would later join Radrock Petroleum Industries Limited, New York USA, (a subsidiary of a Bahamas International Trading Group) as Manager in charge of Nigerian projects. In addition to NSDC, he sits on the Board of Silber Electric Company Limited.
He was the Convener of the first Nigeria-Egypt Business Forum in Abuja and currently a member of Niger State Investment Advisory Council, Nigeria Institute of Management, Nigeria-Egypt Business council, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Nigeria-America Chamber of Commerce and Niger State Committee on the Development of Modern Abattoirs and Minna Emirate Committee on Translation of the Holy Quran. He is also presently the Secretary General and Founder, Quick Intervention and Advisory Organization, an NGO for peace, patriotism and leadership by example. Alhaji Shuaibu is a recipient of three Traditional Tittles, two Community Development Awards and Honorary Doctorate Degree from the European American University (EAU) Commonwealth of Dominica.

Mrs. Asabe Asmau Ahmed, Non-Executive Director

Mrs. Asabe is one time Honourbale Minister of State Agriculture and Executive Secretary Petroleum Equalization Fund (Management) and currently the Chairman Niger State Investment Advisory Council. Mrs. Asabe started her career in 1982 as a teacher under the Niger State Ministry of Education before joining the services of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in 1986 as an Administrative Officer but later left to engage in other endeavours. She returned to the Corporation in March 2016 as Group General Manager (Special Duties). In the course of her career she was Executive Director, United States-Nigeria Development Institute. Mrs. Asabe holds Bachelor of Education Degree from the Prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and a Masters in Public Administration from Nigerian Defence Academy Kaduna. She is widely traveled and has attended numerous trainings, conferences and courses which include High Impact Presentations at Dale Carnegie Institute New York and Global Change Agents – Leading with Commitment, Creativity and Courage at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

Alhaji Isah Jibrin FCNA, FICM, MCITN, Non-Executive Director

Alhaji Isah Jibrin was a director in the Federal Civil Service before he retired in December 2012. He rose to the position of Director Treasury in Niger State Ministry of Finance prior to joining the Federal Civil Service he served as Director, Finance and Accounts at Federal Ministry of Water Resources and National Food Reserve Agency. He was also the Chairman Community Relations Committee on Resettlement for Zungeru Hydropower Project and member Suleja Smart City Company. Alhaji Jibrin holds a Master’s degree in Finance and membership and fellowship in various professional organizations.

Fatima Wushishi, Non-Executive Director

Fatima Wushishi is the Director General of the Niger State Commodity and Export Promotion Agency (NSCEPA). Prior to that, she was the Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of 5th Harvest Ltd, a Post-Harvest Management company in Nigeria’s thriving Agriculture Sector. Fatima brings with her over 15 years’ experience in Research, Procurement, Logistics and Commodities trading In the Health, Energy and Agribusiness industries in the UK and Nigeria. She has a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Wales and an MSc in Medical Microbiology from the University of Surrey.

Dr. Mustapha Jibril, Niger State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce & Industry1

Dr. Mustapha M. Jibril, Non-Executive Director

Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Jibril is a politician and public health physician with more than 18 years of progressive experience in Nigeria’s public health and political sectors. I hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and a Master of International Affairs and Diplomacy (MIAD) degrees from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria. I also hold a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, in addition to attending various professional development courses, including one on health care quality improvements at Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, United States of America. He is a Fellow of the prestigious African Institute of Public Health Professionals.
Currently the Niger State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry with a mandate to fast-track diversification of the economic resource base of the state through the promotion of trade and investment, with emphasis on increased production of export commodities. Prior to now, he was the Commissioner for Health in Niger State, responsible for providing technical, administrative and political leadership to the entire health sector.
Before his appointment as the Commissioner for Health, he was the UNICEF State Coordinator for Niger where he led the design and rollout of the Hard-to-Reach (HTR) project, among other critical programmatic and leadership responsibilities. He worked previously as the Program Manager for the Global fund Health System Strengthening grant to the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), providing overall technical and programmatic leadership for the project team at the agency and in program states in collaboration with key partners. He also served as the Program Manager for Nigeria’s National Deworming Program at the Federal Ministry of Health. Prior to then, he served as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Niger State on International Affairs Relations and as Director General (DG) for Volunteer Services and Diaspora Relations. In the latter capacity, he saw to the development of the first ever policy document and strategic plan on volunteerism for Niger State.
Mustapha has outstanding leadership and managerial skills, having had the opportunity to deal directly with national and international organizations, grassroots politicians and members of various civil society groups. He is confident, articulate, proactive, and a dependable team player with high personal integrity and moral conduct. He has the technical expertise and passion for improving lives and livelihoods for all.

Mallam Hassan Nuhu, Non-Executive Director

Mallam Hassan Nuhu is the CEO of Newgate Nigeria Limited the parent company of Newgate College of Health Technology, Newgate Consult Limited, Newgate Comprehensive Academy and Minna Business School. He is the first to establish a private College of Health with dual accreditation from National Board for Technical Education and other Registration Bodies in Niger State. Prior to this time, he was the Director General, Niger State Directorate for Special Projects (Sure-P) between 2013 and 2015, Director General Niger State Millenium Development Goals between 2007 and 2010, Niger State Coordinator, National Poverty Eradication Programme from 2004 to 2007 where he produced the first ever indicators baseline survey and implemented multi-partner Micro-finance programme using the private sector model for Niger State. He was at various times a Special Assistant to the Governor of Niger State on social services.
Mallam Hassan Nuhu holds B.sc in Business Administration and Master of International Affairs and Diplomacy from ABU Zaria as well as Master of Business Finance from University of Calabar. He has attended courses on leadership, strategy and team development at the International Business Management Institute, Berlin Germany, Project Management, Negotiation and Real Estate in UK and Duabi. He also holds membership of Certified Institute of Management, Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators, Institute of Business and Management Consultants and the Society for Environmental and Public Health Practitioners of Nigeria.

Dr. MOMOHJIMOH A. UMAR, MANAGING DIRECTOR/CEO

MANAGING DIRECTOR/CEO

Dr. Momohjimoh A. Umar holds a PhD in Business Administration (with specialization in financial management) from Northcentral University, Arizona United States of America, Masters of Business Administration/International Business and Finance (Distinction Grade) from University of Birmingham, United Kingdom and B.sc Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and an accomplished banking, financial, investment and risk management professional.

Until his appointment as MD/CEO of NSDC, he was the MD/CEO of ANM Capital Partners Limited, MD/CEO at Services and Investment Trust Limited, and MD/CEO at Guardian Express Bank. Executive Director/Chief Risk Officer at Intercontinental Bank, Executive Director/Chief Financial and Strategy Officer at Unique Venture Capital Management Limited. He was General Manager and Divisional Business Director and Strategy Head at Union Bank, Africa Head of Finance and Economic Development (Advisory role) for UN Economic and Social Council (Special Advisory Council).

In the course of his career, he also occupied the positions of Chief Financial Officer, Chief Strategy and Investment Officer, Director of Businesses, and Sector Head (Operations).

He has worked in United Kingdom, United States of America and eight African Countries.

Dr. Umar has attended numerous courses on leadership, management, strategic thinking, credit risk, corporate restructuring, business development, treasury management at Harvard Business School, Wharton Business School USA, University of Pennsylvania USA, London School of Economics, Arthur D. Little, Omega Performance Masters Class, Dc Gardner, and Lagos Business School, among others.

He holds membership and fellowship of various professional bodies such as Fellow of Institute of Directors, Fellow of Enterprise Risk Management, Institute of Management Consultants, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers of London, Institute of Cost Management, and Fellow of Enterprise Risk Management, among others.

Dr. Umar is also a recipient of numerous awards and on roll calls of excellence such as the British Chevening Scholarship of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Best and Brightest Banker Award, Certificate of Honourary Doctor of Social Works, African Petroleum Price for Outstanding Business Administration Student for Faculty of Business Administration, Ahmadu Bello University 1987, Best scholar award from Northern Nigeria Company Limited, a Best graduating student from Birmingham Business School, Dean of Faculty Birmingham Business School and over fifty various subject price awards.

Overall, Dr. Umar is a committed, passionate and inspirational leader with impeccable character. He is married with children.
